Thanks for sharing your experience! My mileage is currently at 66754 KM, and I just had my last service about two months ago. Actually, your situation sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing. Did you notice any unusual noises or vibrations before the warning lights came on? I'm wondering if I should expect similar repair costs or if prices have gone up since last year. Thanks for any additional insights you can share!

Hey again! Thanks for those details. So, regarding your question about noises, yes, actually I did notice some subtle vibrations about a week before the warning lights showed up on my Astra. It was like a slight shuddering, especially when shifting gears, but I initially ignored it (big mistake!). About the repair costs, I'd say you should probably expect to pay a bit more than what I paid last year. Prices have gone up quite a bit recently, especially for parts. I'd estimate you're looking at around 400-425€ now. But honestly, it's worth every penny to get it sorted properly. When I got mine fixed, it was like driving a different car, so much smoother! Since your car has lower mileage than mine did when I had the issue (mine was at about 85,000 KM), you might be catching it earlier, which is good. One thing I learned from my experience, don't wait too long to get it checked. The metal particles in the fluid can cause more damage if left unchecked. By the way, has your mechanic mentioned anything about the transmission during your service two months ago? Just curious because sometimes these issues start showing subtle signs before they become obvious problems.

Thanks so much for all this detailed information! Yeah, now that you mention it, I have noticed some minor shuddering when shifting gears, but I didn't think much of it at the time. My mechanic didn't mention anything specific about the transmission during my last service, but I guess I should've brought up these subtle signs. I really appreciate the heads up about the current costs, I'll start setting aside around 425€ just to be safe. You're right about not waiting too long; I think I'll book it in next week to avoid any potential extra damage. Better to catch it early than wait for it to get worse! Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been super helpful!

I have some experience working on cars and had a similar issue with my 2010 Vauxhall Astra diesel last year. The ABS/DSC warning lights came on out of nowhere, and it turned out the gear oil was completely worn out. Took it to my trusted workshop, and they found metal particles in the old fluid. They did a complete gear oil flush and replacement, which cost me around 365€. Everything's been working perfectly since then. What's your current mileage? Also, when was the last time you had the transmission fluid changed? These details would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience.
