Corsa fuel rail pressure sensor fault

Having trouble with my 2001 Vauxhall Corsa (gasoline engine). It's got about 93438 km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light has been coming on, and the engine occasionally stalls when idling. I've also noticed a reduction in engine power. I scanned the car with an OBD2 reader, and it's showing a fault code related to the fuel rail pressure sensor signal. From what I've read, it seems like the pressure sensor itself might be defective. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my older Renault Megane, though the symptoms weren't exactly the same. The check engine light was on, and the car would sometimes hesitate when accelerating. The error code also pointed to the fuel pressure sensor. Have you checked the wiring and connectors to the sensor? Sometimes a loose or corroded connection can cause similar issues.

Thanks for the insight. I did give the wiring and connectors a quick look, and they seemed okay at first glance, but I didn't check them thoroughly. How did you troubleshoot the wiring on your Megane? Was it visibly damaged, or did you use a multimeter to test the continuity?

On the Megane, the wiring looked fine initially, but closer inspection revealed a small crack in the insulation, causing intermittent contact. Considering your symptoms and the error code, a faulty pressure sensor is still the most probable cause. However, given that you've checked the basics, perhaps it's best to have it diagnosed properly at a workshop. They have the tools to properly diagnose the fuel injection system.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate you sharing your experience with the Megane. I'll take your advice and bring it to a workshop for diagnosis. It turned out to be the fuel rail pressure sensor indeed, and it cost me 240€ to get it replaced. Runs smoothly now.
