Corsa Glow Control Unit Fault

Hi, I have a 2008 Vauxhall Corsa (diesel) with 142402 km on the clock. I'm having some issues that point towards a defective glow control unit. The preheating lamp doesn't switch off, the check engine light is on, and I'm getting smoke when accelerating. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I had almost the same symptoms on my Corsa! The engine light was driving me nuts, and the smoke was embarrassing. Have you checked the glow plugs themselves? They can sometimes cause similar issues before you start digging into the control unit.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the glow plugs directly yet, I was focusing on the control unit and its connections. Did you eventually find that the glow plugs were the issue, or was it something else?

Nah, glow plugs were fine in the end. It was the control unit for sure. If you're seeing the same stuff, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional. Save yourself the headache!

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on - it was indeed the glow control unit. Repair cost was 95€. All sorted now!
