CR V Navigation System Failure

I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2014 Honda CR-V gasoline. It's got about 202156 km on it, and the navigation system has completely lost it. I keep getting an error message saying there's no GPS reception. I've checked the antenna wire. I suspect it might be the GPS antenna itself. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Honda CR-V owner experienced a navigation system failure, receiving an error message about no GPS reception. The issue was suspected to be related to the GPS antenna. After ruling out recent work or interference from electronics, it was suggested that the antenna might be defective. Upon taking the vehicle to a workshop, the diagnosis confirmed a faulty GPS antenna, which was then repaired, resolving the navigation issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I have a CR-V as well, although a slightly older model. I did encounter a similar GPS issue a while back. Was there any recent work done on the car, particularly around the roof or rear hatch area where the antenna might be located? Any chance of signal interference from aftermarket electronics?

That's interesting! No, I haven't had any work done recently that would affect the antenna. And I don't have any new electronics installed that could be causing interference. Where was the GPS antenna located on your vehicle, and how did you resolve the problem?

The GPS antenna on mine is integrated into the shark fin antenna on the roof. Given that you've ruled out interference and recent work, a defective GPS antenna is the most probable cause. I would suggest taking it to a workshop to confirm the diagnosis. They will be able to check the antenna with specialized equipment and give you a definitive answer.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to the workshop, and you were right – it was indeed a defective GPS antenna. The repair cost me around 200€, but at least the navigation system is working perfectly again. I'll definitely keep an eye out for any future issues.
