CR Z Audio System Failure
Summary of the thread
The audio system in a 2011 Honda CR-Z hybrid stopped working entirely, with no sound from any source. Initial checks of fuses and volume controls did not resolve the issue. A potential cause was suspected to be a defective bass speaker. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that the bass speaker was indeed defective and caused a short, leading to the system failure.

I didn't notice any distortion specifically, but now that you mention it, the bass did seem a little weaker than usual the last time I used it. What was the issue with your Megane?

On my Megane, it turned out that the speaker amp shorted and took out the whole system. I'd suggest getting it checked out at a reputable workshop to rule out any serious issues.

Thanks for the insight! Based on that, I booked an appointment with a local shop. Turns out the bass speaker was defective and caused a short. Repair came to 280€. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. The sound system just quit. Did you notice any sound distortion before it went completely silent?
