CR Z Gearbox Slipping
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Honda CR-Z hybrid with 218,159 km is experiencing gearbox slipping and unclean shifts. The problem may be due to issues with the transfer case oil or mechanical wear. It is suggested to check for oil leaks and the condition of the gear oil, and to consider a professional inspection. Ultimately, defective gears in the transfer case were identified, requiring repair.

Thanks for the reply! No obvious leaks, but I haven't really checked closely. The oil change was... uh... longer ago than I'd like to admit. Is it possible that the gear wear is already causing issues? I am also concerned about the cost of repair.

It's definitely possible, man. Gear wear can cause all sorts of problems. If the oil change was a while ago, that's probably not helping. I'd honestly suggest taking it to a workshop. They can check the transfer case properly and see if there's anything seriously wrong.

Alright, I appreciate the advice! Sounds like a trip to the workshop is in order. Just got the news - defective gears in the transfer case, repair cost is around 330€. Thanks again!

Dude, that sounds rough! I've got a CR-Z too, and I had similar issues a while back. Started around the same mileage, actually. Have you noticed any oil leakage around the transfer case? It might be worth checking the gear oil itself to see if it's looking dark or sludgy. How long ago was your last oil change?
