CR-Z Idle Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Honda CR-Z hybrid is experiencing idle stalling and a check engine light, with an error code pointing to the idle air control (IAC) valve. The issue may be due to a heavily contaminated intake or throttle body buildup. A suggested solution is to thoroughly clean the throttle body and, if the problem persists, consider replacing the IAC valve, as this resolved a similar issue for another owner.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did give the throttle body a quick once-over, but maybe I wasn't thorough enough. Was the buildup pretty obvious, or did you have to really dig in there to see it? Any particular cleaner you'd recommend?

Yeah, the buildup was pretty significant once I took the throttle body off completely. I used some standard throttle body cleaner, nothing fancy. But honestly, after cleaning it and still having issues, I just took it to a workshop. Turned out the IAC valve itself was shot. They replaced it, and the problem vanished instantly.

Okay, awesome. Sounds like I'm heading down the same road. I'll give the throttle body another, more thorough cleaning, but I suspect you're right about the IAC valve itself. I think it's time for me to visit my mechanic. They quoted me around 425€ for the repair, which seems reasonable. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my CR-Z. Same symptoms, especially the stalling. Have you checked the throttle body for buildup? That was the culprit in my case.
