CR Z Mirror Heating Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2012 Honda CR-Z hybrid has a mirror heating issue on both sides, with an error stored, possibly due to a bad cable or plug. Initial suggestions include checking the fuses and testing for voltage at the mirror connector using a multimeter. If no power is detected, it indicates a wiring issue or a bad fuse. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective connection, and the user opted for a workshop repair, which resolved the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll check the fuses first. Could you give me more detail on how to access the mirror connector for testing with the multimeter, and what voltage I should be looking for?

Alright, accessing the connector can be a bit fiddly. Usually, you'll need to carefully pry off the mirror glass itself. There are plenty of videos online showing how to do it without breaking anything, search for "CR-Z mirror glass removal". Once that's off, you should see the connector. As for voltage, you're looking for 12V when the mirror heating is switched on. Honestly, though, if you're not super comfortable with this stuff, taking it to a workshop might save you a headache. They'll diagnose it quickly and get it sorted. Sounds like the estimated cost is around 95€ which is fair.

Thank you very much. I've decided to bring it to a workshop, as you suggested. The diagnostic confirmed a defective connection, and the repair cost matched the estimate. Your advice was very helpful in confirming the likely cause.

Hey! Mirror heating issues can be tricky. I'd start by checking the fuses. It's simple, but often overlooked. Do you have a multimeter? If so, you could test for voltage at the mirror connector itself. If there's no power there, it definitely points to a wiring issue or a bad fuse. Let me know what you find!
