Crankshaft sensor as a possible cause of engine problems in a 2013 Citroen C1

Hi guys, I'm worried about my C1 Citroen 2013 with a gasoline engine and approx. 19446 KM mileage. My car has been causing real problems recently - the check engine light flashes, the engine switches itself off, cold starts take forever, there is a loss of power and the engine runs erratically. Sometimes the car won't even start at all. I suspect it is the crankshaft sensor? Has anyone had similar experiences or problems and can tell me about their experience at the mechanic? Last time I didn't have the same confidence... Thank you for helping me!

Hey buddy, I had a similar problem with my 2010 C3 Citroen. In my problems, it was actually the crankshaft sensor wiring harness/connector. Man, what can I tell you, the whole thing was quite a hassle. The car behaved exactly as you describe. The last time it was in the workshop, they had to replace the sensor completely because it just wasn't working as it should. So it was definitely a serious problem. Maybe that's the case with you too, at least it sounds similar. So, check it out. Good luck to you, buddy.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! If I understand correctly, the crankshaft sensor was the culprit in your case. That actually sounds pretty similar to my current problems. Can you remember how much the repair cost you and whether any other problems have cropped up since then? Always helpful to know what to look out for. Thank you!

Hey, no problem! So, to answer your question, the complete replacement of the crankshaft sensor including wiring harness and plug cost me around 170 euros. Maybe that's the case for you too, it sounds very similar to you. Since the mechanic looked over the car, it has been running like a charm again. So, the crankshaft sensor malfunction has definitely been rectified and no new problems have arisen since then. I hope this helps you. All the best for you and your car!

Hey, thanks for your detailed reply! 170 euros sounds fair and I'm reassured to hear that everything has been running smoothly for you since the replacement. I will definitely go to the garage and have the crankshaft sensor checked. Hopefully the problem will then be fixed and my car will run like it used to. I'll let you know if I have any news! Thanks again for your help!
