Creta fog sensor malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Hyundai Creta diesel owner experienced a malfunctioning fog sensor, which seemed to affect other systems like air conditioning, spray nozzles, and mirror heating. The issue was suspected to be related to wiring or connection problems. It was advised to inspect the wiring and connections, particularly for corrosion or damage. Upon professional inspection, a corroded connector to the fog sensor was identified and replaced, resolving the issues.

Thank you for the suggestion. Could you perhaps elaborate on where exactly I should be looking for these connections? I'm not very familiar with the Creta's wiring layout. Would a general inspection be sufficient, or are there specific areas prone to corrosion or damage?

Given the range of affected systems, and your admitted lack of familiarity, I strongly recommend taking your Creta to a qualified workshop. While a visual inspection might reveal obvious damage, properly diagnosing electrical issues often requires specialized tools and knowledge. The fact that you have frozen spray nozzles and the error memory issue, points to a more severe underlying issue. It may well be the connection as I mentioned, but for such an issue, the estimated repair cost is around 95€.

Thank you so much for your advice! I took it to the workshop as suggested, and indeed it was a corroded connector to the fog sensor that was causing all the havoc. Replaced, and everything is back to normal, just as you said. Much appreciated!

That does sound like a strange combination of symptoms. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the fog sensor? A defective cable or plug connection can sometimes cause seemingly unrelated electrical problems. It's worth a look before assuming the sensor itself is faulty.
