Creta Transmission Issues

I'm really stressed! I have a 2021 Hyundai Creta diesel with 120126 km on the clock. Recently, the transmission indicator light and check engine light came on. The automatic transmission went into emergency mode, and now it doesn't shift properly – it slips and shifts really uncleanly, and I hear grinding noises sometimes! I scanned for error codes, and it points towards a radiator oil pressure issue. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the cause? Is anyone familiar with this issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Hyundai Creta diesel with 120,126 km experienced transmission issues, including slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding noises, accompanied by the transmission indicator and check engine lights. The problem was traced to a radiator oil pressure issue, potentially caused by a defective cable or plug connection. After consulting with others who had similar issues, it was suggested to check the radiator coolant level and pressure gauge. Ultimately, a defective plug connection on the pressure sensor was identified and replaced, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had similar symptoms on my Creta some time ago. The transmission was acting up in much the same way. The error codes also pointed to the pressure sensor. Have you checked the radiator coolant level and the pressure gauge? Any signs of car overheating?

Thanks for your reply! I'll check the coolant level and pressure gauge now. Did you also have issues with the transmission going into emergency mode? What was the exact error code you got? Also, did the grinding noise also occur in your case?

Yes, my Creta also went into emergency mode with the same symptoms. Unfortunately, I do not remember the exact error code but it indicated a fault related to the radiator oil pressure sensor. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. It could be a faulty cable or plug, as you suspected.

Thank you so much for your help! I took it to the shop as you suggested, and they found a defective plug connection on the pressure sensor. They replaced it, and the total cost was 95€. Everything seems to be working fine now!
