Croma Automatic Transmission Implausible Shifting
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Fiat Croma diesel with automatic transmission was experiencing erratic shifting, a transmission indicator light, and occasional emergency mode activation. The issue was suspected to be caused by undervoltage or worn-out transmission oil. After checking the transmission fluid level and consulting with others, it was determined that the transmission oil was indeed worn out. A transmission flush and oil replacement resolved the problem, restoring proper shifting functionality.

I did check the fluid level, and it seemed okay, but I'm not sure how old it is. Could worn-out transmission oil really cause these problems, like the erratic shifting and emergency mode? Should I consider a transmission flush?

Yep, that's exactly what happened with my car. I ignored it for too long, and then it got much worse. Just get it checked at the workshop! It will probably be the transmission oil. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local workshop, and you were spot on. The automatic transmission oil was indeed worn out. They flushed it and replaced it, and now it's shifting perfectly. The final bill came to 240€, which is a relief compared to a full transmission rebuild.

Sounds rough! I had similar transmission performance issues with my Croma. The automatic gearbox was acting super weird. Did you check the transmission fluid level?
