Croma Belt Tensioner Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2008 Fiat Croma with a gasoline engine, around 173830 kilometers. The belt handover isn't working right. I think it's the belt tensioner itself. Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Fiat Croma owner is experiencing issues with the belt handover, suspecting the belt tensioner as the cause. Another individual with a similar experience suggests checking the serpentine belt and idler pulley for wear and listening for unusual engine noises. The problem is confirmed by a mechanic to be the belt tensioner, with a repair cost of 455€.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had something similar with my Croma, though I don't remember the year. Sounds like the tensioner pulley. Did you check the serpentine belt and idler pulley for wear? Any weird engine noises?

What symptoms did you have with your Croma? I want to be sure it's the belt handover before I go further.

The belt was loose, and the engine squealed, especially when cold. The belt drive felt unstable. You might want to get it checked at a workshop to be sure.

Took it to my mechanic, and it's the belt tensioner. Repair will be about 455€. Thanks for the help!
