Croma Generator Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Fiat Croma diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, a warning light, poor starting, and flickering lights. An error code suggests a generator issue, which aligns with symptoms like dimming lights under electrical load. Replacing the generator is recommended as a likely solution, based on similar experiences and error indications.

Thanks for the reply! I did notice that the lights dimmed significantly when I used the heater and the car was idling. Did replacing the alternator fix it for you, or was it something else like the serpentine belt?

Yeah, the dimming lights were a big clue for me too. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the generator. The error memory also pointed to it. They replaced it, and everything was fine afterwards. Cost me around 960€. I'd suggest getting it checked out professionally just to be sure.

Thanks a lot! I appreciate the insight. Based on your experience and the error code, I'll take it to a trusted mechanic to get the generator replaced. Sounds like that's the likely culprit and it's not worth messing around with it myself. I'll post again when the work is complete!

That sounds rough. I've got a Fiat Croma, and I had similar problems a while back. Reduced power and the battery light were the first signs. Did you notice any voltage drops when you put a load on the electrical system, like turning on the headlights and the heater at the same time?
