Cronos AC and Error Message Issues

Hi, I have a 2017 Fiat Cronos with a gasoline engine, and I'm experiencing some weird issues. The error memory has a stored error, and an error message keeps popping up on the speedometer. To top it off, the air conditioning won't turn on. I suspect it's related to the temperature sensor in the heat exchanger, but I'm not entirely sure. Anyone else had similar problems?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Fiat Cronos owner is experiencing persistent error messages on the speedometer and a non-functional air conditioning system. The suspected cause is a faulty temperature sensor in the heat exchanger, potentially linked to the AC control unit. A similar issue was resolved by diagnosing and repairing the AC control unit at a workshop, which required specialized tools and software. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle professionally inspected and repaired.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I have a Cronos as well, and I had almost the exact same symptoms last summer. An error message, AC refusing to cooperate... It was driving me crazy. Did you notice anything else? Any weird engine behavior, or coolant levels dropping faster than usual?

Thanks for the reply! Coolant levels seem normal, and the engine runs fine, no overheating or anything unusual. The only things I've noticed are the error messages and the non-functional AC. What exactly was wrong with yours, and how did you fix it?

Alright, since the engine is running fine, it is very likely the AC control unit. I remember the technician mentioning something about a defective temperature sensor heat exchanger. Honestly, it got a bit technical for me, but the bottom line was that the AC control unit was faulty. I had to take it to the workshop; it required special tools and software to diagnose and repair. I really recommend that you do that too, since these cars are very sensible.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I really appreciate the help. I'll definitely take it to a workshop and have them check the AC control unit and the temperature sensor. I am guessing that my repair will also cost around 980€. Hopefully, they can sort it out quickly. Thanks again!
