Interesting, the temp sensor and blower motor are good ideas. Regarding your Volvo, did the error codes specifically point to those components, or were they more generic 'auxiliary heater malfunction' type codes?

The codes were pretty vague, something like 'auxiliary heater blocked'. It took digging and luck to narrow it down. Given your symptoms and the error codes, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They have the proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks for the input. The shop confirmed it was a defective glow plug as suspected. 440€ later, the auxiliary heater is working again. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70, although not exactly the same, but similar symptoms. Did you check the temperature sensor readings? On my Volvo, a faulty sensor prevented the auxiliary heater from starting. Also, check the blower motor. If it isn't running properly, the system might shut down the heater as a safety measure. A coolant leak could also affect the heater's operation.
