Crossland X temperature sensor and AC issues

I've got a 2021 Vauxhall Crossland X with a gasoline engine, and I'm running into a strange issue. My temperature sensor heat exchanger seems to be defective. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, plus an error message pops up in the speedometer. To top it off, the air conditioning system refuses to switch on. Given the mileage is at 244894 km, I suspected a sensor calibration issue, but everything seems to be in order. Could it be a fault in the HVAC system causing this domino effect? I've checked for any obvious coolant leaks, but found nothing. Anyone experienced something similar?

That sounds familiar. I remember having weird AC issues in my old Astra, and it turned out to be a faulty AC control unit messing with everything. Did you check the temperature gauge readings? Are they fluctuating wildly or just stuck?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't paid close attention to the exact temperature gauge readings, but will do. If it is indeed the AC control unit, could that really cause all these symptoms simultaneously, including the error in the speedometer?

Yep, a defective AC control unit can definitely trigger all sorts of errors, including the speedometer warning. Modern cars are so interconnected. I'd say it's probably time to take it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly. I bet you it is the AC control unit.

Thanks a lot for the help! I took it to the workshop as suggested. They confirmed the air conditioning control unit was defective and causing the temperature sensor errors. The repair, including a new unit and recalibration, cost me around 980€. Everything's working perfectly now!
