CrosslandX Engine Knocking

My 2018 Vauxhall CrosslandX with a gasoline engine is playing up. 225286 km on the clock and now it's started knocking under combustion. I'm losing power, it jerks when I accelerate, and chucks out smoke when I put my foot down. The error memory is full. I'm thinking pre-ignition or deposits in the combustion chamber? Anyone else had this?

Sounds nasty! I've got a CrosslandX too, and I had similar symptoms a while back. Reduced power, jerking... it was awful! Did you check your knock sensor? That was the first thing I looked at.

The knock sensor seemed fine when I gave it a once over, but maybe I missed something? What was the fix for yours? And was it throwing smoke out the back as well?

Yeah, mine was smoking like a chimney when I accelerated. I thought the knock sensor was okay too, but honestly, I just took it to a workshop in the end. They sorted it out quickly. Probably best to get it checked professionally.

Took your advice and went to a local garage. Turns out you were spot on with pre-ignition. They cleaned up the combustion chamber, and it’s running great now! Cost me 425€, but worth every penny to get rid of that awful knocking. Thanks again!
