Crown Victoria exhaust flap issue

My 2004 Ford Crown Victoria with a gasoline engine has a loud exhaust, especially on cold starts, and the error memory is storing faults. I suspect the exhaust flaps. Has anyone else had this?

I drive a Crown Vic too, and your symptoms sound like what I experienced. Louder exhaust, especially on startup, and a noticeable drop in engine performance? Does it sound like there's a hole in your muffler?

Yep, it was the exhaust flaps for me. The flap motor had given up. I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop; they can confirm and give you a quote.

The workshop confirmed the exhaust flap was defective. The repair cost 190€.
