Crown Victoria Exhaust Sensor Issue

I've got a bit of a problem with my 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, gasoline engine. The check engine light keeps popping on, and the car feels like it's lost some power. Also, I seem to be burning through fuel a lot faster than usual. I scanned it and it looks like a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. Any thoughts?

Sounds familiar. I've got a Crown Vic too, and I had similar issues. It could be a leak in your exhaust system, messing with the sensor readings. Have you checked for any obvious damage?

Thanks! I'll check for leaks, but could a small leak really cause all those symptoms? Reduced power and higher fuel consumption seem like big effects for just a little hole.

Yep, even a small leak can throw off the whole emission control system, triggering the sensor and causing those problems. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to properly diagnose and fix any exhaust component issues.

Okay, appreciate the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were right, there was a small leak causing the sensor to read incorrectly. Repair cost was 265€, but at least it's sorted now. Thanks again!
