Cruise control issue resolved with a simple fix

My 2002 Mercedes CLK with a gasoline engine is giving me trouble The cruise control just quit I get an error message in the speedometer and the cruise control is completely dead I ran diagnostics and there's an error stored in the memory It could be a faulty system or a bad connection Has anyone else run into this I'm trying to avoid a huge bill but this car electronics stuff is beyond me sometimes

I understand your frustration I've experienced a similar cruise control malfunction with my Mercedes C-Class Given the symptoms and error code you mentioned, a defective cable or plug connection is indeed a plausible cause Before considering more complex repairs, I recommend a thorough inspection of the fuse box related to the cruise control system Ensure all fuses are properly seated and undamaged Furthermore, examine the wiring and connectors associated with the cruise control module for any signs of corrosion, loose connections, or physical damage Precise diagnostics are crucial to avoid unnecessary expenses

Thanks for the tip When you say cruise control module, where exactly would I find that thing Is it something I can easily get to, or am I going to be contorting myself under the dashboard for hours Also, do you know which fuse specifically controls the cruise control I want to make sure I'm checking the right one

The cruise control module's location can vary However, it is often situated within the engine compartment or beneath the dashboard on the driver's side Consulting your vehicle's repair manual will provide the most accurate information regarding its specific location Similarly, the fuse assignment for the cruise control system is documented in the vehicle's owner's manual or on a diagram located near the fuse box Given the potential complexity of diagnosing and repairing electrical faults, particularly within sophisticated car electronics, I must advise proceeding with caution If you lack expertise in this area, seeking assistance from a qualified workshop is advisable to prevent further complications and ensure safety

I took your advice and checked the fuses first One of them was blown I replaced it, and the cruise control is back Apparently, the repair cost was only 95€ Thanks a bunch for pointing me in the right direction I really appreciate you saving me time and money
