Cruze AC Compressor Issue

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2010 Chevrolet Cruze diesel. The A/C compressor seems to have given up. The air conditioning system doesn't switch on, and it's no longer cooling. I hooked it up to a code reader, and there's an error stored, but nothing specific to the compressor. I'm suspecting undervoltage, but I've checked the obvious fuses and relays. Anyone experienced something similar with their Cruze's HVAC system?

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2010 Chevrolet Cruze diesel with a malfunctioning A/C compressor that fails to activate, resulting in no cooling. The initial suspicion was undervoltage, but after checking fuses and relays, no specific compressor error was found. A suggestion was made to inspect the pressure switch for a possible refrigerant leak, which could cause low pressure and shut down the system without a specific error code. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by identifying a leak and recharging the system at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Cruze, though it wasn't the diesel version. A/C just quit. Have you checked the pressure switch? Could be a refrigerant leak causing low pressure and shutting everything down. Worth a look before you dive too deep.

Interesting, thanks for the quick reply. I haven't specifically checked the pressure switch. Is it easy to access on the Cruze? And if it is a refrigerant leak, would that typically throw a specific error code, or just a general HVAC system fault?

It's not too bad to get to, should be near the compressor. Mine didn't throw a specific code, just a general A/C issue. Ended up being a tiny leak that was enough to drop the pressure. Honestly, best to take it to a workshop; they can diagnose it properly and recharge the system if needed.

Okay, that's helpful. I appreciate the insight. I'll take it to a local workshop. They found a leak and recharged the system, cost me 240€. Thanks again for the advice!
