Cruze check engine light air valve issue

Hey, I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2022 Chevy Cruze (gasoline engine). The check engine light keeps popping on. I've got almost 200k km on the clock (199863 to be exact). I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the air valve. I'm suspecting a defective hose connection from the pump to the valve. I've noticed some weird idle problems too, like the engine wanting to stall sometimes. Could be a vacuum leak messing with the manifold pressure, right? Anyone else run into this?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Chevy Cruze owner is experiencing a recurring check engine light issue, suspecting a problem with the air valve, possibly due to a defective hose connection. The vehicle also exhibits idle problems, suggesting a potential vacuum leak affecting manifold pressure. A suggestion is made to inspect hoses around the air valve for cracks or loose connections, and it is advised to consult a professional mechanic to avoid further complications. The issue was confirmed to be a defective hose connection, which was resolved by a mechanic.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra a while back. Check engine light kept coming on, and the idle was all over the place. I'm no expert, but could you maybe check all the hoses around the air valve for cracks or loose connections? That's where I eventually found my issue. Was yours also running rough?

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, it's definitely running rough sometimes, especially at idle. Where exactly should I be looking for these hoses? Are they easy to spot, or are they buried deep in the engine bay? Any chance you remember how much the repair cost you?

Okay, so mine was a bit of a pain to get to, tucked away behind the intake manifold. I'm not sure where they are on your Cruze, but just follow the air valve and you should find them eventually. Honestly, I couldn't fix it myself; I ended up taking it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. Best to get a professional to have a look before you mess something up and the check engine light comes on for good.

Right, I hear you. Probably best not to make things worse! I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to my mechanic this week. It was exactly as I thought, a defective hose connection. Cost me 175€, but at least the check engine light is off!
