Cruze Diesel Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Chevrolet Cruze diesel with 51717 km is experiencing reduced engine power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a loud hissing sound. The suspected cause is a faulty intake manifold flap control, which affects the engine's air intake and performance. The intake manifold flap optimizes airflow for efficient fuel burning, and a defective control can disrupt this process, leading to the described symptoms. The issue was confirmed and resolved at a workshop, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Cheers for the reply! I'm pretty sure that the intake manifold flap control is the issue. But what does a faulty switch do, and how does it affect the engine that badly? I would like to be informed before going to the workshop.

No worries! If that switch is defective, it probably isn't opening or closing the flap properly. That means the engine isn't getting the right amount of air at the right time, leading to all those lovely symptoms you described. I'm no expert, but it sounds like you're on the right track with the intake manifold flap control. Honestly, it got pretty technical, and I ended up just taking my Astra to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly.

Okay, that makes sense. I'll take it to a local workshop. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Turns out the switch intake manifold control was indeed defective, just like I thought. Cost me 465€ to get it fixed, but at least she's running smoothly again!

Hey, that sounds rough! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my old Vauxhall Astra (different engine though) a while back. Reduced power, weird noises... turned out to be something similar. An intake manifold is a key part of your engine's air intake. It distributes the air coming from the air intake evenly to each of the engine's cylinders. The intake manifold flap helps to optimize the airflow and make sure the engine burns fuel efficiently. So, if the control for that flap goes bad, it really messes with performance. Did you check for any error codes?
