Cruze exhaust temperature sensor issue

I'm having issues with my 2019 Chevrolet Cruze, gasoline engine. The check engine light is on and off, engine power is down, and fuel consumption is way up. My car has 127525 km on it. Could a faulty exhaust temperature sensor be the problem? I've read that an exhaust leak could cause this. Has anyone else seen this?

Hey! I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Astra, but it was a diesel. Check engine light, sluggish performance, and terrible fuel economy. It was the exhaust gas temperature sensor. Have you looked for exhaust leaks? That can really mess with the sensor readings.

On my Astra, leaks were most common around the flex pipe and the joints connecting the exhaust sections. Look for soot or damage. Honestly, unless you're comfortable getting under the car, I'd suggest a workshop. They'll have the tools to find the leak fast.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my mechanic, and it was a faulty exhaust temperature sensor due to a small exhaust leak near the catalytic converter, just like you said. The sensor replacement and sealing the leak cost 265€. Hopefully, that fixes it for good!
