CRV EGR Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Honda CR-V diesel with 84,000 km is experiencing significant power loss, a check engine light, excessive smoke during acceleration, rough running, high fuel consumption, jerking, and intermittent hissing sounds. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the EGR valve. Scanning for error codes confirmed an EGR-related problem, leading to the replacement of the faulty valve, which resolved the issues and restored the vehicle's performance.

I scanned it and it gave me a code related to the EGR valve. Did you end up replacing yours on the Megane, or could it be something else?

I replaced mine. Cleaning it didn't do anything, unfortunately. If the code points to the EGR and you've got all those symptoms, it's almost certainly that. I'd get it checked at a workshop. Could save you money in the long run.

Cheers for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on – EGR valve was buggered. Cost me 355€ to replace, but it's running like new now!

Sounds rough. Had similar issues with my old Renault Megane, but it was petrol. Exact same symptoms though – loss of power, check engine light, even the hissing. Have you tried scanning for error codes? That'll give you a clue if it's the EGR.
