CRV immobilizer issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Honda CR-V diesel is experiencing an immobilizer issue where the engine starts briefly but then dies, with an error code indicating a key recognition problem. The suspected causes include key programming issues or a faulty key signal. The suggested solution is to have the key reprogrammed, which resolved the problem for another vehicle with a similar issue.

Interesting. Remote start isn't a feature I have. Could you elaborate on your Renault experience? What was the root cause and eventual fix? Was it related to the key itself or something else?

Turns out the key transponder had somehow become de-synchronized with the car's immobilizer. After a bit of fiddling around, I ended up having to get it reprogrammed. I think you should get it checked by a workshop

Thanks for the info. It seems you were spot on. I took it to a mechanic and they confirmed the key needed reprogramming. Cost me 45€ and fixed the issue.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane a few years back. It would crank but not fire up, and a security light would flash. Could it be a remote start issue interfering with the key signal?
