So, when you say 'heater core,' is that like, the little radiator thingy that actually heats the air before it blows into the car? And how does the dashboard panel come into play here? Is it just where the controls are, or is there more to it?

Yes, the heater core functions similarly to a radiator, using engine coolant to heat the air. As for the dashboard panel, it primarily houses the controls for the climate control system, allowing you to adjust the temperature and airflow. While the panel itself may not be directly involved, a fault in its controls could indirectly affect the flap's operation. Given the error code and reduced heating output, a workshop visit is recommended.

Okay, thanks a bunch for the explanation! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turned out to be a loose connector for the air distribution flap motor. 95€ later and it's all sorted. Really appreciate the help!

It sounds as if you have an issue related to the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) unit. The 'defrost air distribution flap' you mentioned is responsible for directing airflow. A defective cable or plug connection would certainly cause the symptoms you described. Temperature regulation relies on these flaps functioning correctly to blend hot air from the heater core with cooler air.
