Dayz low brake fluid
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Nissan Dayz with 119,301 km is experiencing low brake fluid levels and unusual brake pedal feedback. The issue is likely due to worn brake pads, which cause the caliper pistons to extend further, using more fluid from the reservoir. Although a brake line leak is possible, worn pads are the more probable cause. The recommended solution is to have the brake system inspected and repaired at a workshop, which confirmed the worn brakes as the issue.

So, worn brake pads could really cause that much fluid loss? Is it possible the brake lines are leaking?

It's not fluid loss per se, just a shift in where the fluid is sitting within the hydraulic brakes system. While a leak in the brake lines is possible, it's less likely than worn pads being the culprit, especially if your only symptom is the fluid level. Of course, any drop in fluid is a cause for concern. I'd advise getting it checked at a workshop.

Thanks. Took it to the workshop; worn brakes were indeed the problem. Repair cost was 480€. Appreciate the advice.

I had a similar issue with my old 2012 Peugeot 208. The brake pedal felt weird, and it turned out I had worn brake pads. Because the pads were thinner, the caliper pistons had to extend further, using more fluid from the reservoir. This lowered the brake fluid level. Have you checked your brake pad thickness?
