Dead Power Windows in Dakota, Common Fix Guide

My power windows completely stopped working on my 2011 Dodge Dakota (60k km, gas engine). The car threw an error code and I suspect the window regulator motor might be the issue. Has anyone dealt with similar window mechanism problems on these trucks? Looking for insights on typical repair costs and whether this is a common issue that needs a shop visit or could be a DIY fix. Thanks for any help!

Recently faced this exact issue with my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500. The power window system failed completely, showing similar symptoms. The window regulator motor had indeed failed, but the problem was more complex than initially thought. The automotive repair revealed multiple issues in the window track system. After removing the door panel, the technician found the regulator motor had seized, and the window track had accumulated debris, causing additional stress on the mechanism. This is actually a known issue in these models. While the window regulator motor can sometimes be replaced as a DIY job, the complete diagnosis revealed wiring issues within the door that required professional attention. The repair involved: Complete removal of door panel, Testing electrical connections, Replacing the window regulator assembly, Cleaning and lubricating window tracks, Recalibrating the auto-up/down function Given the complexity of modern power window systems, this turned out to be more than a simple parts swap. The repair required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly reset the window control module. Would strongly recommend having a professional shop handle this repair to ensure all electrical components are properly integrated.

Just had this exact window control issue taken care of on my Dakota last month. The window regulator motor was completely shot and needed replacement, along with a thorough cleaning of the window track system. My mechanic also noticed some wear on the electrical connectors that needed attention. Curious to know what the repair ended up costing in your case? My total came to around 450€ for parts and labor. Also wondering if you experienced any other electrical quirks after getting it fixed? Mine has been running perfectly since the automotive repair, but always good to hear about long-term reliability from others whove had similar work done.

The window regulator repair on my Ram worked out cheaper than yours at 200€ total. The main issue turned out to be a faulty power window switch rather than a complete motor failure. The automotive repair shop diagnosed and fixed it efficiently. The window mechanism has been working flawlessly since the repair. No electrical problems or any window control issues have surfaced in the months following the fix. The smooth operation really shows how important it is to address power windows problems promptly. For anyone else facing similar issues: having a professional diagnose the exact problem saved money in my case, as they identified the specific component rather than replacing the entire window regulator assembly.

After seeing these symptoms on my Dakota, I finally got it fixed at my local shop last week. The total repair cost was 550€, which covered replacing the window regulator motor and cleaning the entire window track system. The mechanic found corroded wiring that needed replacement too. The window mechanism now works perfectly, no more sticking or error codes. The repair took about 3 hours total. While more expensive than I hoped, having a professional handle the car window system was worth it since they caught those additional wiring issues that I might have missed trying to DIY. Definitely learned its better to address window control problems early before they cause more damage. Really glad I got it sorted professionally rather than attempting a DIY fix on such a complex electrical system.
