DMax Outside Temperature Sensor Fault

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2021 Chevrolet DMax diesel. It's got about 89888 km on the clock. The error memory is showing a fault with the outside temperature sensor. This seems to be causing a cascade of problems – the AC won't kick on, the windscreen spray nozzles seem frozen even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating is non-functional. I'm suspecting a bad cable or plug connection to the sensor itself. Anyone else run into something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Chevrolet DMax diesel is experiencing issues with the outside temperature sensor, leading to problems with the AC, windscreen spray nozzles, and mirror heating. The error code P0070 indicates a fault in the ambient air temperature sensor circuit. The suspected causes include a bad cable or plug connection, possibly due to corrosion or a break in the wiring harness. Suggested solutions involve checking the connector and wiring harness, with a recommendation to consult a workshop if the issue persists.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar gremlin with my DMax. Same symptoms – AC refusing to work, weird readings. I'd start by checking the connector for corrosion. Also, what's the actual error code you're getting? Knowing that could point to whether it's a sensor fault or a wiring issue.

Good shout on the error code. It's P0070 - Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit. I did check the connector visually, but didn't see anything obvious like corrosion. I'm wondering if it could be a break in the wiring harness somewhere further back. Did you experience this?

P0070 rings a bell. I remember chasing that rabbit for a while. I’d advise to check the wiring harness and the plug connection more closely, but eventually I had to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They sorted it out quickly, diagnosing a faulty connection within the harness itself.

Thanks for the insights! Sounds like I'm heading in the right direction with the wiring check. I'll give it another go, but I might have to follow your lead and get it to a workshop. They quoted me around 95€ for the replacement, so not too bad. Appreciate the help!
