Drive and cylinder pressure problems at BMW X2
(Translated from Dutch)
Summary of the thread
A BMW X2 experienced jerking and power loss on the highway, with a warning message indicating reduced drive power. An inspection revealed old, dirty spark plugs, particularly in cylinder 3, which also showed significantly lower pressure than the others. This is not typical for a car with 65,000 km and suggests potential issues with piston rings, valves, or the head gasket. Given the car's warranty, a thorough inspection by an authorized BMW garage is recommended to ensure proper diagnosis and repair, providing peace of mind and preventing future problems.

It's not normal for a car with only 1000 km to have such low compression in one cylinder. This could indicate a more serious issue, such as a problem with the piston rings, valves, or head gasket in cylinder 3. Given that the car is still under warranty, it's advisable to have a thorough inspection done by an authorized BMW garage. They can provide a detailed report and ensure any necessary repairs are covered under warranty. This will also help prevent future issues. Please keep us updated on the progress and let us know if you have any further questions.
Sorry, the car has a odometer reading of 65000km. The hobbling started 1000km after the purchase. The car is now for repair at the dealership where we purchased the BMW X2. It is a Bosch Car Service with BOVAG. Is our fear justified that they will not check and repair the car as a real BMW garage would? The principle of "We from toilet duck....". We have indicated that we want to have a report done through BMW to make sure what else is wrong with it. But Bosch says they have the expertise themselves. Despite this we are not entirely comfortable. Rightly or wrongly?

It's understandable to feel concerned about the repair quality. Bosch Car Service centers are generally reputable and have trained technicians, but if you prefer peace of mind, you can request a second opinion from an authorized BMW garage. This could ensure that any brand-specific issues are addressed. Keep communication open with the dealership and express your concerns clearly. Let us know how it goes or if you have more questions.
