DS3 Diesel Power Loss and Smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Citroen DS3 diesel is experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, with diagnostics indicating a potential Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) issue. Similar symptoms in another DS3 were linked to backpressure problems and a completely blocked DPF. It is advised to have a professional inspection to confirm the diagnosis and consider DPF replacement to prevent further damage.

Could you elaborate on the backpressure assessment? Did you do this yourself, or was it during an inspection? Also, did DPF regeneration have any effect before the engine light?

I didn't check it myself, a workshop did, sorry. No point trying to regenerate if it's completely blocked anyway - they said it was totally choked. Best get it looked at before it causes more damage.

Thanks for the info. It seems a professional diagnosis is needed. Following the inspection, the diagnosis was a defective DPF, with a replacement cost estimated at 1550€.

I've got a DS3 as well and I had near enough the same thing happening. Smoke and a real drop in power. Have you checked the backpressure? When the engine light came on I knew something was up.
