DS5 Electronic Parking Brake Fault

I'm writing about my 2011 Citroen DS5 with a gasoline engine, which has 152257 km. I've encountered a malfunction with the electronic parking brake. It's completely non-functional. Diagnostics reveal an error and the warning light is on. It seems like a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. Has anyone experienced similar issues? I'm interested in brake diagnostics, the brake switch, electronic brake control, and any nuances of this brake fault.

Hello, I had a similar issue with my DS5 not too long ago. The symptoms you described mirror my experience precisely. The error code and warning light were particularly frustrating. Did you happen to check the brake switch itself? Sometimes a faulty switch can trigger the entire system to shut down as a safety measure. It's a relatively inexpensive component to replace, and worth checking before you delve into the caliper motor.

Thank you for your response. Regarding the brake switch, could you elaborate on its location and the specific diagnostic steps you took to assess its functionality? A detailed explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Certainly. Honestly, I didn't perform the diagnostic steps myself. I lack the specialized equipment for that type of brake diagnostics. I brought it to my trusted workshop. The mechanics there pinpointed the electric motor in the brake caliper. The fault codes led them directly to it. It might be a good idea to have it checked out at a workshop, but I think you might have the same problem. The entire repair, including parts and labor, came to around 505€.

I extend my sincere gratitude for your invaluable insights and shared experience. Your confirmation of similar symptoms has reinforced my diagnostic conclusions. I've decided to engage a qualified workshop for a comprehensive evaluation and remediation of the fault. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
