DS5 Hybrid Overheating

Citroen DS5 (2012 Hybrid) owners, I need your help! My car, with 158930 km, is overheating and the check engine light is on. I suspect the radiator fan. Has anyone else battled this? Could a dodgy speed sensor be the cause?

Overheating on a hybrid is never fun! I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series. Check the thermal switch and fan motor first. Cooling system issues can be tricky. Is the fan noise normal?

Interesting, you mention your BMW. Did your 3 series throw the same error codes and symptoms? I'm getting engine overheating and the check engine light. Was the fan running at all, or just intermittently?

Yes, same deal. Overheating and the check engine light. The fan would run sometimes, then quit. It turned out to be a faulty thermal switch messing with the fan motor speed. It's worth checking before you chase the speed sensor. Honestly, hybrid systems can get really complex and I am out of ideas. Take it to a workshop.

Thanks! I think you are right. I took her to the shop. Diagnosis confirmed: fan motor and thermal switch, like your BMW. 250€ lighter, but she's running well again!
