DS5 PTC Heater Cold Start Issue

My 2015 Citroen DS5 diesel has been running terribly on cold starts lately. I've also noticed a significant jump in fuel consumption. I scanned it and it's throwing a code related to the PTC heater. Mileage is sitting at 222469 km. Could a defective electric auxiliary heater really be the culprit?

I had similar symptoms with my DS5. Poor engine running when cold, plus the fuel consumption was high. Do you notice that your heat isn't working properly either, or that the temperature control is erratic?

Interesting! Yes, the heat takes ages to warm up, and sometimes it blows cold air even when the engine's been running for a while. Was it definitely the PTC heater, and how did you fix it?

Yep, sounds like the exact same problem. The diagnostic pointed to the auxiliary heater. To be honest, with electrical faults like that, I always take it to the shop. It can get complicated fast. See if a mechanic can confirm the heater is faulty. That's what I did.

Thanks for confirming! I suspected as much. I'll book it in for a diagnostic. It was the PTC heater, just like we thought. Repair was about 350€, but the car runs perfectly now.
