Ducato automatic transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Fiat Ducato diesel with only 22,645 km is experiencing automatic transmission issues, including erratic shifting and the transmission light activating, sometimes entering emergency mode. A potential cause identified is low battery voltage, which can disrupt the transmission's computer system. The solution involved replacing the transmission oil and resetting the system, resolving the issue.

Battery issues, you say? Hmm, the battery did seem a little weak lately. I had to jump it once last week. Could that really mess with the transmission? What exactly happened with yours?

Yeah, undervoltage can definitely screw with the automatic transmission's computer. Mine was doing the same thing – weird shifting, emergency mode, the whole shebang. Turned out the low voltage was causing the transmission to act crazy. Best to get it checked out by a workshop.

Thanks a bunch for the insight! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on! They said the low voltage messed with the transmission and the oil was worn out. They replaced the oil and reset everything. Cost me 240€, but it's shifting perfectly now. Really appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Ducato's automatic transmission a while back. Was there anything unusual happening before this started, like battery issues or electrical problems?
