Ducato Fuel Pressure Regulator Issue
Summary of the thread
The initial problem involved a 2009 Fiat Ducato diesel experiencing intermittent check engine lights, stalling when idling, and a weak engine, potentially linked to a recent fuel filter change. The issue was suspected to be with the fuel pressure regulator. A similar past experience suggested checking the fuel rail and pressure sensor. Ultimately, a professional diagnosis confirmed a faulty fuel pressure regulator, and replacing it resolved the issues.

Thanks for the tip. Can you tell me exactly what checks or repairs fixed your problem? Did you see any weird readings from the pressure sensor before you figured it out? I'm wondering if you had any specific error codes related to the fuel pressure regulator.

Yeah, in my case, it was the fuel pressure regulator. The error codes pointed to it, but the readings were just barely within range, so it was hard to diagnose at first. I'd suggest taking it to a shop to get it checked out properly. They'll have the right tools to measure the pressure and read the error codes.

Thanks for the help! I took it to a shop like you said, and they confirmed it was a bad fuel pressure regulator, like the error I got after changing the fuel filter. The repair was 45€. Replacing the regulator fixed everything. Thanks again for sharing your experience!

I had similar issues with my Ducato. It felt like a misfire, like a bad spark plug, even though it's a diesel. For me, it was something in the fuel system. My fuel economy was awful, like I was pouring fuel straight onto the road. You might want to check the fuel rail and pressure sensor; they could be faulty. Think of it like a clogged artery; the engine isn't getting enough fuel.
