Ducato gearbox emergency mode
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Fiat Ducato diesel is experiencing engine warning lights and the gearbox entering emergency mode, accompanied by unclean shifting and grinding noises. The error memory indicates a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor, and low gearbox oil is suspected as a potential cause. It is suggested to check the gearbox oil level, as low oil can lead to overheating and sensor issues, and to have the sensor checked or replaced by a workshop.

Yeah, I haven't checked the oil level yet. Was that actually the cause of your problems? What exactly did you experience?

Yes, low oil was the primary cause. The sensor was likely triggered by the overheating due to insufficient lubrication. However, the sensor itself might be faulty now. I would recommend having it checked by a workshop.

Thanks! That's helpful. I'll check the oil level and probably get it to a workshop. Turns out, the oil was indeed low, and the sensor needed replacing. Cost me 365€ to sort it all out.

I had similar transmission issues with my Ducato. Same warning lights and shifting problems. Did you check the gearbox oil level? That was my first thought when mine started acting up.
