Ducato immobilizer key programming
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Fiat Ducato with a gasoline engine is experiencing starting issues, suspected to be related to the immobilizer system. The problem may stem from incorrect key programming, as indicated by stored error codes and the car's failure to remain running. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing the key's transponder signal. The recommended solution is to have the key programming checked and corrected by a professional workshop, which successfully resolved the issue for a cost of 45€.

Thanks. I only have one key for the Ducato. What exactly was the problem with the key signal?

On my Astra it was the transponder in the key itself. It wasn't sending the correct signal to the immobilizer, so the car thought someone was trying to steal it. Key programming isn't something I'd mess with. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop that deals with car security systems.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed the key programming. The repair cost 45€.

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms: engine refusing to stay on, security light flashing. It was a problem with the key signal. Have you tried the spare key? It helped me identify the immobilizer fault.
