Ducato incorrect vehicle coding
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Fiat Ducato with a gasoline engine was experiencing error codes related to incorrect vehicle coding, as indicated by a diagnostic scanner. The problem was not resolved by simply resetting the codes, suggesting a mismatch between the vehicle's configuration and its programmed parameters. The recommended solution was to have the vehicle recoded at a workshop, which successfully resolved the issue.

No recent ECU flashing, as far as I am aware. I don't have the exact fault code at hand right now, but the scanner mentioned something related to variant coding. Could a simple reset of the codes potentially solve the issue, or is this indicative of a deeper underlying problem?

While resetting the codes might temporarily clear the error messages on your Fiat Ducato, it is unlikely to address a fundamental coding issue. The recurrence of the error suggests a mismatch between the vehicle's actual configuration and the programmed parameters. I would recommend consulting a workshop with the appropriate diagnostic tools to recode the vehicle. This should resolve the issue.

Thanks for the insight. Took it to a workshop as suggested. Turns out the coding was indeed off. Recoding fixed the errors and cost 360€. Appreciate the help!

Regarding your Fiat Ducato's error codes and symptoms, the diagnostic scanner's indication of incorrect vehicle coding is certainly a pertinent lead. Has any work been performed recently that might have involved re-flashing the ECU or any other module? In the absence of such, it does seem unusual. Can you provide the specific fault code that you are observing?
