Dying Battery Causing Porsche Boxster Lock & Light Issues?

Thanks for sharing your experience! My Boxster's at 115031 KM and I just had it serviced last month. It's good to know you managed to fix a similar issue, that price sounds reasonable too. I'll definitely check with my local specialist about the cable connection. Haven't spotted any other electrical problems besides these door lock and light issues. Did your Cayman show any warning lights on the dash when you had this problem?

Hey again! Yeah, thinking back to my Cayman issue, I actually didn't get any warning lights on the dash at first, which was kind of weird. But after about a week of the lock/unlock problems, I did start getting an occasional "Check Rear Light" warning, even though the lights were still working (just dimmer than usual). I just remembered another detail that might help you, before getting it fixed, I noticed the problem was worse in damp weather. Given your Boxster's mileage (mine was around 108,000 km when this happened), it's really similar to what I experienced. The cable connection issue tends to show up around this mileage in these models. The fix at my specialist took about 2-3 hours, and they actually found some slight corrosion on the connectors too. Make sure they check for that when you take it in. Since the repair, I haven't had a single problem with the locks or lights, it's been about 18 months now. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out. I'm curious if it'll be the same issue as my Cayman!

That's super helpful info about the damp weather effect, now that you mention it, I've noticed the same thing! The problems do seem worse when it's been raining. It's really reassuring to hear that your repair has held up for 18 months without any issues. The similar mileage between our cars makes me pretty confident it's the same problem. I've actually just booked an appointment with my Porsche specialist for next Tuesday, I'll definitely make sure they check those connectors for corrosion too. Thanks again for all the detailed advice, it's given me a much better idea of what to expect. I'll update you once I get it sorted out!

I've got some experience working on Porsches. Had a similar issue with my 2012 Cayman (and previously owned a 911). The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with, those door handle electronics can be tricky! My fix was pretty straightforward, turned out to be a faulty cable connection between the door handle electronics and the control unit. Got it sorted at my local Porsche specialist for about 110 Euro. They had to replace some wiring and reprogram the unit, but it's been working perfectly since. What's the mileage on your Boxster? And have you noticed any other electrical issues? This info would help me give you more specific advice.
