Dynasty oil pressure warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Hyundai Dynasty with a gasoline engine is experiencing an intermittent oil pressure warning light and loud mechanical noises, particularly when the engine is hot. The issue could be related to a defective oil pump, as similar symptoms were resolved by replacing the pump in another case. An oil change and filter replacement were suggested as initial steps, but the problem persisted. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosis confirmed the oil pump was faulty, leading to its replacement.

Thanks. The issue is more pronounced when the engine is hot. I performed an oil change about 5000 km ago using the oil viscosity from the owner's manual. What caused your similar issue?

Ah, okay, so it gets worse when hot. That's not great. Mine turned out to be the oil pump itself. It's a pain. Honestly, with those symptoms, and especially since the oil change didn't fix it, I'd get it to a workshop ASAP. Continuing to drive it could cause serious engine damage. Hopefully, it's 'just' the pump, but low oil pressure is scary stuff!

I appreciate the insights. I followed your advice and took the vehicle to a workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defective oil pump. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 755€.

Sounds like a real problem! Something similar happened with my Dynasty. Does it happen more when the engine is hot, or all the time? Have you checked your oil level and the oil's condition? Maybe try an oil change with a new filter? Sometimes a clogged filter can cause low pressure. What weight of oil are you using?
