Dynasty Solar Sensor Fault

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2001 Hyundai Dynasty with a gasoline engine. It only has 36965 km, but it's reporting a solar sensor fault. An error is consistently stored, and the heating output seems significantly diminished. I've reviewed the wiring diagrams and performed continuity tests, but the issue persists. Has anyone encountered a similar issue, and do you have any insights into potential solutions?

Summary of the thread

A 2001 Hyundai Dynasty with low mileage is experiencing a solar sensor fault, leading to diminished heating output. Despite reviewing wiring diagrams and performing continuity tests, the issue persists. A similar case suggested checking sensor calibration and inspecting connectors for corrosion, particularly near the windshield under the dashboard. Ultimately, a technician identified and repaired a defective cable connection, resolving the problem.

Interesting issue. I have a Dynasty as well, and I remember experiencing something similar a while back. I don't recall the exact error code, but the climate control was definitely acting up. It felt like the system wasn't properly reading the interior temperature, and the heater was blowing lukewarm air even when set to max. Did you check the sensor calibration, or maybe the connector? In my case, it was a corroded pin in one of the connectors that goes to the sensor unit itself.

When you mention sensor calibration, are you referring to a specific diagnostic procedure accessible through the vehicle's service menu, or is this a matter of physically adjusting the sensor's position? Also, could you elaborate on the location of the connector you found to be problematic? A more precise localization would prove invaluable.

Well, when I say 'calibration', I just mean checking if the sensor's readings are within a reasonable range using a diagnostic tool. It's like checking the aim on a bow and arrow, making sure it's pointed where it should be. As for the connector, from what I recall it was near the base of the windshield, under the dashboard, where the sensor wiring harness runs. But honestly, if I were you, I'd take it to a workshop. They'll pinpoint it in no time, and it might save you hours of frustration.

Following your recommendation, I entrusted the vehicle to a qualified technician. The diagnosis confirmed a defective cable connection, precisely as you suggested. The repair, amounting to a reasonable 95€, has rectified the issue, and the heating system now operates flawlessly. Your insights were instrumental in expediting the resolution. Thank you again for your assistance!
