E Klasse Diesel Glow Plug Problems

Glow plug issues on my 2018 E Klasse Diesel Anyone else experienced this My E Klasse diesel has developed a fault The preheating lamp stays on, and the check engine light is illuminated Error memory points to a glow plug failure I'm looking at around 440€ for the repair Rough idle as well Is this a common issue

440€ Oh my Rough idle and a persistent preheating light sounds awfully familiar I drive an E Klasse too Had the exact same symptoms – preheating lamp wouldn't extinguish, plus a noticeable rough idle, particularly when the engine was cold Are you sure it's just one glow plug Did you have the control unit checked as well

Control unit I just had the error code read The mechanic said glow plug Should I insist on them checking the control unit

Yes, absolutely insist I ended up replacing all the glow plugs AND the control unit because apparently, a faulty control unit can fry the new glow plugs It might be worth getting a second opinion, or at least asking your mechanic to specifically test the glow plug control unit before replacing anything Save yourself the potential headache and expense later on If the fault is still present afterwards it is a more difficult and costly fix Best to take it to the workshop to be sure

Thanks for the tip I had them check the control unit as you suggested, and it was faulty as well Replaced both the plugs and the unit All sorted now
