Ecosport ABS and Steering Issues

I'm experiencing an unsettling issue with my 2006 Ford Ecosport, diesel engine. I keep getting a low tire pressure warning. The ABS lamp lights up intermittently, the steering wheel vibrates badly, and it feels like the power steering is failing, requiring much more effort. I checked the tires visually, and I can't see any punctures. Could it be a slow leak? Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Summary of the thread

The 2006 Ford Ecosport is experiencing issues with low tire pressure warnings, intermittent ABS lamp activation, steering wheel vibrations, and increased steering effort, suggesting potential power steering failure. A possible cause identified is a defective tire valve leading to slow pressure loss. Replacing the valve resolved the tire pressure issue, and the vehicle's performance returned to normal. It is recommended to consult a workshop for a comprehensive diagnosis to ensure all related issues are addressed.

I had something similar happen with my Ecosport. The tire pressure light came on, and the steering felt 'off.' It could be a valve issue in one of the tires causing pressure loss. Have you checked the tire pressures manually with a gauge to see if one is significantly lower than the others?

I haven't checked the pressures manually yet; I was relying on the in-car monitoring system. If it is a valve issue, would that really cause all the other symptoms I'm experiencing, like the ABS light and the power steering problem? I am not a car expert, so I am not sure about how these things are related.

I am not a car expert either, but it is difficult to say for sure if it is connected to the other issues, but I would not rule it out. In my case, I just had the tire valve replaced, and it solved the tire pressure issue. However, I did not have the other symptoms that you are describing, so it could be something completely different. I would definitely recommend taking it to a workshop to get it checked out properly. Better safe than sorry.

Thank you so much for your advice. I will definitely take it to a workshop as soon as possible. It turned out to be a defective valve in the tire, as you suggested, and that was causing a slow pressure loss. I had it replaced, and that cost me 280€. Now everything seems to be working as expected.
