Ecosport AC not working

Hi, I have a problem with my 2007 Ford Ecosport with a gasoline engine. It has 231029 km on it. The AC isn't working. It doesn't cool and doesn't seem to switch on. I checked the fuses for the blower motor, and they're fine. Any ideas?

Hey! Bummer about the AC. When you say it doesn't switch on, does the AC compressor try to engage? Do you hear a click or any change in engine RPM when you hit the AC button? Also, have you checked the AC relay? Sometimes that's the problem; it's like a tiny switch that tells the AC to kick in.

Thanks for the quick reply. The AC compressor doesn't seem to change the engine RPM, and I don't hear any clicking when I turn it on. Can you give me more details on how to check the AC relay? I'm not sure how to do that.

Okay, no compressor engagement is a key clue. Think of your AC system like a bicycle tire. If there's a leak, no amount of pumping will fill it. The AC relay is usually in the fuse box under the hood; check your car's manual for the location. With those symptoms, it could be a refrigerant leak, a faulty pressure switch. Given the age of your Ecosport, I'd recommend a workshop visit. They can pinpoint the problem and recharge the system if needed.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take it to a workshop to get it checked out. It seems like the valves within the AC system are likely the problem, which will cost around 1000€ to fix.
