Elantra Airbag Warning Lamp Lit
Summary of the thread
The airbag warning lamp in a 2006 Hyundai Elantra is constantly lit, and the suspected cause is a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue in a different vehicle was resolved by a mechanic, suggesting that professional diagnosis and repair are advisable due to the complexity and safety concerns associated with airbag systems. The recommended solution is to take the car to a workshop for proper diagnosis and repair to avoid accidental airbag deployment.

Nah, nothing happened before the light came on. Just randomly appeared one morning. You think the Volvo issue was a bad connection too? Or something else?

Well, I never got to the bottom of it myself. I read a little about it, and it could have been a faulty sensor, or a clock spring issue in the steering wheel, but honestly I was afraid of accidentally triggering the airbags because airbag deployment is not fun. I took it to a mechanic, and they sorted it out. Since you are pretty sure that it is a bad connection, I would bring it to the workshop. They have special tools to diagnose this issue.

Roger that. Airbag deployment sounds expensive and painful! Haha. I'll bite the bullet and take it to the pros. The invoice will cost 95€. Thanks for confirming my fears! Appreciate the help!

I had something similar with my old Volvo V70. The SRS light was always on. I know a little about cars, but airbag stuff is pretty serious, right? I think it is best to leave alone the car and have it repaired in the workshop. Did the light just pop on randomly, or did something happen before it came on? Like, a minor fender-bender or anything?
