Elantra transmission fault
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Hyundai Elantra diesel exhibited transmission issues, including an engine warning light, emergency mode activation, slipping, and grinding noises. The error memory indicated a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. The primary suspect was low gearbox oil, which can cause such symptoms. After professional inspection, the issue was resolved by topping up the oil, confirming the sensor was not faulty.

I haven't checked it yet. Where exactly is the oil level indicator, and how do I check it properly? Do I need any special tools?

Checking the level is tricky without the right tools and knowledge. Given the symptoms and the error code, it's best to get it checked professionally. It is likely the oil level, but the sensor itself could also be faulty. Ignoring it could cause more damage. Going to a workshop is the safer bet in this case.

Okay, thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were right - low oil level. They topped it up and cleared the error. Cost me 365€, sensor seems fine for now.

Yeah, low gearbox oil level can definitely cause those symptoms in your Elantra. Have you checked the oil level recently? A faulty pressure sensor could also trigger those issues, but low oil is the more common culprit.
