Thanks for the tip! I checked the fuses already, and they all seem to be fine. Is it possible that the window motor itself is the problem? How difficult is it to get to the window mechanism? Do I need special tools?

Yep, sounds like the window motor to me. If the fuses are good and you're getting an error code, it's likely the motor itself or the window control unit. Honestly, messing with the door panel and window mechanism can be tricky. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. It'll probably save you a headache in the long run.

Update time! Just got my Mini back from the shop. Turns out it WAS a faulty window motor in the driver's side door. The cost was exactly as predicted, around 200€ including labor. Thanks a bunch for your help and the heads up!

Whoa, sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Volkswagen – the power windows just quit working. First thing I'd check is the fuse box. There's usually a fuse specifically for the power windows. Worth a shot before you tear into the door panel!
